It’s Too Hard! I Just Can’t Do That!

Written by

So today I've been doing some thinking about something that I often hear from people who want something that makes them either an income to replace their income at their current job OR those who want to make it big and make a lot of money.

All of these people have one thing in common…

They want to do this with an online business.

Yeah! That's awesome, and if you pick the right online business and WORK at it that will happen for you.

However there's a big percentage of these people who want to build an income with an online business and when they pick the right business they go…

OMG! This is too hard!

You know what?

You're damn right it's hard.

But is it too hard?

It's only TOO hard if you don't want it enough.

Period!

End of freakin' story.

If you think this is too hard you…

1. Don't have the help you need to do it. FIND THAT HELP!

2. Technology kicks you in the teeth. FIND SOMEONE TO HELP YOU WITH THAT!

3. You get too overwhelmed. STOP THAT! Take a deep breath, layout what you need to do, and pick one thing to do and accomplish it. Then come back to the next thing and accomplish it until you've done what you need to do!

NOTHING is too hard if you want it enough.

If you want an online business you're going to stop

1. Jumping from thing to thing

2. Decide HOW you want to make money with an online business and JUST focus on that.

3. Refuse to surrender and do everything you can to find success. Find people who can help you!

I've been running my own online business since 2004. I was 25 years old when I started it. Before that I ran my own business in the direct mail industry. I was 19 when I started it.

NONE of it was EVER easy. EVER!

But I refused to quit!

I refused to let distractions keep me from success! (I became incredibly self disciplined.)

And for the last 10 years I've enjoyed an amazing lifestyle WHILE still working hard for it. Because NOTHING is too hard to keep me from a lifestyle I love. Building my online business and working hard in it is what got me here.

Do you want to be here?

Then quit saying it's too hard.

It's not…

And I'm living proof.

Are YOU ready to work hard for it?

If you can't get out of the mindset that it's too hard creating an online business is NOT for you and you need to do something else.

Is that an alternative for you?

Do you just want to give up and walk away?

I sure hope not because I'd love to see you have an amazing life you LOVE funded by an online business.

Stop saying it's too hard!

Want it enough and you'll get it…

I know this was a bit of a rant, but it's something that needs to be said. I'm usually all unicorns and rainbows, but this stuff needed to be said.

Please know this all comes from my passion to help YOU succeed. I could easily just site back and let you destroy yourself and not have the stress of this stuff making me rant. *lol* But I'm passionate about my business and I'm passionate about YOU having a business that gives you the lifestyle of your dreams!

So to my people specifically…

If you're in my…

  • Liz said it is time to Can the excuses.

If you have a program from Liz and can’t even get started….
then ask for help. It is there.

Big program or small…it doesn’t matter. Liz spoon feeds it to you and even
    gives you dessert.
And if that isn’t enough, you get a live webinar each week to keep you going.
Plus everyone in all the Facebook groups are just as willing to help.
All you have to do is Ask.

Stop buying things and storing them in the black hole on
    your hard drive.

    Up to you.

    Just Do It.

Better get if done while you can still afford a Liz Tomey gift.

  • Hey Liz, great post, your title is off I didn’t hate to hear it. I have been doing my best to keep going, but the day job has been eating up more time lately. Not more money from it, just more time on it. Anyway, normally I am off on Thursdays and the weekends, so I will email in and schedule a coaching call for next Thursday and will see you on the BWL webby tonight.

  • Thanks a lot Liz. This is something I’ve always had a problem with and still do but now I’m getting help from you others to stick to it, dig in, find a way to do the things that are too hard to do. I think that’s what you have just said and I appreciate hearing that. I’ve never heard it put that way, in that tone with a caring attitude. I’m very appreciative of this look into the rigors of creating an online business. I’ll try to dig in, persevere, and find ways to accomplish the things that are keeping me from creating my business or maybe businesses.

Thank you a lot for your webinar and for being real and understanding when dealing with some hard issues and making them approachable and manageable.

    • You’re getting your mind right. Now just stay self disciplined! 🙂 Thank you for your kind comments. I try really hard for my peeps and I’m glad I’ve been of help to you. Keep showing up for the webinars!

  • It’s so true, Liz. Being an entrepreneur is not for sissies! (If that’s politically correct to say…)

I’ve worked out of my house since 1992. The business has taken on various iterations, but the common denominator is hard work and always trying to find time to do what needs to be done.

  • This is a great post Liz. The truth of the matter is a couple of years back there were so-called gurus that were telling people they could make millions overnight with little or no work.

Some people realized this was not true but many jumped on the bandwagon and gave up when the riches did not materialize.

Some still think the internet is a gold-mine that requires no work. I think I have been working harder since I retired to build up a business than I ever did in my working life!

    • Yep, Derek! I agree… There are A LOT of “gurus” who are responsible for the “mindset” that many people have. It’s sad that …

      1. People are promised big money for no work.
      2. People are taught to do the wrong thing to be successful

I have my work cut out for me because I spend my time trying to bring people the truth, un-program from what they’ve been taught that is all wrong, and then reprogram them so they know what’s right!

That’s why it’s sooooo important to find a mentor that isn’t a conartist and one that will actually be there to help!

      Liz

  • I liked this post and I do believe you are out to help people. Follow through is very important to do.
I started setting something up at the beginning of 2017, but I ran into a big snag, the product that I was learning from and implementing just dried up, it was a third of the way finished and then it was stopped. Unfortunately it was a group of products put out by you Liz.

Even the best can get side-tracked. (btw– I have contacted support for this issue, but no solution as of yet)

    • Or contact my support desk and tell them I said to forward your email to me if you don’t have my direct email.

  • Hi Liz, I’ve known you for a very long time and tried to follow you but it isn’t always lack of of being willing to put in the hard work you know, although I can believe that a huge number of followers over the years probable are in this mode, but some followers could be in a different mode, I know that I am. I’m fully prepared to spend 10 hours a day, when I know exactly what I’m doing and can afford to pay to keep learning, hence I can sign up for something that interests me and could reasonable expect to commence earning at the end, but, therein is the problem, I do not know when I sign up how long its going to take to get to the earning position, therefore I cant budget for success. Yes there are some 999$ programs that is a complete package, but you need a good salary to be able to pay that sort of sum plus the site fees auto-responder etc. etc I’ve had about a years of auto-responders charges and site fees but never got to the stage of actually using them, because ive run out of money before completing, i’ve signed for 3 expensive projects over the last 6 months, but ran out of money before I could complete the programs. I doubt that Im the only one in that situation. I know a number of other Pensioners who have also experienced this problem.

  • Liz,
Loved this post as I love all your stuff. It means a lot coming from someone like yourself who has ‘been there, done that.’ A nice little reality check, but it also lets us know it’s not ‘Mission impossible.’ At the end of your post you talked about people just sticking with the programs that they started working with you. That is so critical. I think one of the reasons that people quit is that they think they have NOT made sufficient progress in a certain period of time so they just get discouraged and give up. One of my mottos is “anything is better than nothing”. And so certainly anybody who finishes one of your programs, albeit at a slower pace, is better than somebody who just quits altogether because they’ve gotten discouraged.

Two other critical points that you made is that people need to find the proper help wherever it is. If you’re having tech problems you need to have a tech person you can turn to or a forum or Facebook group of tech people that can help you. And the same would go for the marketing, sales copy, graphic design, web design, list building, and all that other good stuff. It’s really critical to have people that can help you either in person one-on-one, or in group settings or just to help you on a forum or Facebook group.

One of the problems is that we when we get stuck in one area, it’s so easy to turn around and just start focusing on something else because there’s always so much to learn. For instance somebody could get stuck on copywriting and think, okay you know I’ll get back to that later on, to spend a little more time learning Canva right now. Or someone could have some problems with their sales page software and then decide you know what I’m going to spend a little more time learning how to shoot and edit videos for you too. So we end up feeling like we’re doing something positive and productive which is partially true, however, were not accomplishing that one specific task that we set out to do in the first place. Sometimes I just pretend that I have a boss and a regular job. And then I ask myself “What did my boss want me to get done today? What progress can I report to my boss at the end of the day on that project that he or she assigned to me?” And that really helps me to get focused.

Because if we’ve ever worked for someone else and they are paying us by the hour then they want their projects done at the end of the day or at the end of the week. You can’t just come up to your boss at the end of the week and say, “well I made some progress on that project, but most of my time ended up learning about editing videos and editing graphic design with Canva -it’s a really cool free graphic editing program.”

So thanks again for keeping it real so glad I got to meet you in Orlando and can’t wait to buy the next product you create. You DA Best!!!
